“This page is a digitally archived AccessInfo Announcement”

On September 10, 2014, the FCC’s Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau (CGB) released a Public Notice reminding video programming distributors (VPDs) such as broadcasters, cable operators, and satellite television services that deliver video programming directly to the home, of their obligation to make emergency information accessible to persons who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, or visually impaired in accordance with section 79.2 of the Commission’s rules. Under the rules, if the emergency information is shown on television, the information must be made accessible.

This Pubic Notice also provides information for consumers about how to obtain more information about the rules, how to file complaints, and how to contact their VPD or the FCC regarding compliance with the rule.

For further information, contact Suzy Rosen Singleton, Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau, Disability Rights Office (202) 510-9446 (voice/videophone); or email Suzanne.Singleton@fcc.gov.
