Emergency Protocol
The Health Center is limited to providing basic health services to federal employees. However, within the FCC headquarters facility and in an emergency situation, the nurse may also provide urgent medical attention for Commission visitors and contractors, pending the arrival of an ambulance.
In the event of a medical emergency, the nurse will respond to any location within the building, including the parking garage and the Courtyard area. However, for legal reasons, the Health Center nurse will not respond to emergencies outside the FCC HQ facility (i.e. in the restaurants or on the street/sidewalk area). In these circumstances, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) should be summoned (9, 911) and informed of the situation.
Emergency services are provided during normal clinic hours. After 4:15 p.m., please contact EMS at 9-911.
Service to Minors
Treatment of FCC employees under the age of 18 requires prior written consent from their parents or guardians. Without such consent, only emergency care (no medication) may be given.
