On 6/30/2000, Bell Atlantic (BNTR) and GTE Corporation (GTTC) merged into one company, Verizon Communications. GTE Arkansas, Inc. was renamed GTE Arkansas, Inc. d/b/a Verizon Arkansas. On 7/31/2000, both of the Arkansas study areas (COAR & COSA) were sold to CenturyTel.
