“This page is a digitally archived AccessInfo Announcement”

On August 23, 2012, the FCC’s Consumer & Governmental Affairs Bureau (CGB) released a Public Notice asking for comment on its tentative findings about the accessibility of communications technologies.  Public comment will assist the Commission in assessing the following:

·    the level of compliance with requirements that telecommunications and advanced communications services and equipment be accessible to and usable by individuals with disabilities;

·    the effect of requirements for related recordkeeping and enforcement on the development and deployment of new communications technologies; and the extent to which accessibility barriers still exist with respect to new communications technologies.

This information will help inform the FCC’s first report to Congress about these issues, which is required by the

Twenty-First Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act of 2010 (CVAA) and is due October 8,

2012.
