On November 13, 2012, the FCC released a Public Notice (Notice) DA 12-1831 seeking comments pursuant to the Next Generation 9-1-1 Advancement Act of 2012.  This Notice is a rulemaking proceeding in docket numbers PS Docket No. 10-255, PS Docket No. 11-153, and

PS Docket No. 12-333.

 

The Notice seeks comment on:

1.    the legal and regulatory framework for the development of NG9-1-1 Services and the transition from legacy 9-1-1 networks to NG9-1-1;

2.    legal mechanisms for ensuring efficient and accurate transmission of 9-1-1 caller information to emergency response agencies, and

3.    recommendations for removing jurisdictional barriers and inconsistent legacy regulations.

 

Comments are due December 13, 2012, and reply comments are due January 14, 2013.
