On February 10, 2014, the FCC’s Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau issued a Public Notice soliciting public comment on seven petitions seeking exemption from the Commission’s closed captioning requirements.  The basis for these petitions is that, in each case, captioning would be “economically burdensome” for the petitioner as defined in Section 79.1(f) of the Commission’s Rules.
