On March 19, 2024, the FCC released a Public Notice seeking comment on whether the Commission should adopt a Joint Proposal filed by NCTA – The Internet & Television Association and several disability advocacy groups (collectively, “the Organizations”) addressing how the Commission should determine if specific closed captioning display settings are readily accessible.

On March 26, 2024, the Media Bureau released a Public Notice announcing the comment due dates for the proceeding.
