On November 20, 2014, the FCC released a Public Notice seeking comment on the E911 location accuracy plan (Roadmap) announced by the four largest wireless carriers, the National Emergency Number Association (NENA), and the Association of Public Safety Communication Officers, International (APCO) (the Parties).
Specifically, the FCC seeks comment on whether the Roadmap proposed by the Parities presents a reasonable alternative to the proposals set forth in the FCC’s Third Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to improve location accuracy for 911 calls originating indoors.
The FCC also seeks comment on whether the Roadmap should apply to wireless carriers other than the Parties mentioned above.
