Taking action on behalf of consumers involves using a wide range of tools to ensure that the actions of companies are lawful and reasonable. Among the tools used by the Division are negotiated settlements that result in a change in company practices, policy statements to provide guidance to companies, and fines or penalties to punish a company for a specific action(s).
