Number portability allows consumers and businesses to keep their current phone number when changing providers or, in some instances, when moving to a new Iocation.   On October 26, 2017, the FCC released a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking and Notice of Inquiry to invite comment on the changes that would be required to implement number portability nationwide, allowing customers to keep their numbers when moving anywhere in the country, between all service providers, regardless of size or type. In paragraph 66 of the item (link below), the FCC seeks comment on how nationwide number portability may affect access to communications services for people with disabilities.
