“This page is a digitally archived AccessInfo Announcement”

On December 2, 2013, the FCC’s Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau issued a Public Notice reaffirming Internet Protocol Captioned Telephone Service (IP CTS) registration requirements and the confidentiality of consumer information obtained through registration.  The Public Notice explains that FCC regulations require consumers who are registering for IP CTS to provide their full name, date of birth, address, telephone number, and last four digits of the consumer’s social security number to their IP CTS provider.  Consumers must also certify that, among other things, they have a hearing loss that necessitates IP CTS to communicate by phone.  Finally, the Public Notice reaffirms that FCC regulations require IP CTS providers to maintain the confidentiality of the personal information obtained from consumers through their registration and certification.
