FCC Seeking Nominations for 3rd Chairman’s Awards for Advancement in Accessibility (Chairman’s AAA)

On February 10, 2014, the FCC announced its plans to accept nominations for the 3rd Chairman’s Awards for Advancement in Accessibility (Chairman’s AAA).  The Chairman’s AAA is a part of the FCC’s Accessibility and Innovation Initiative (A&I Initiative) that recognizes outstanding private and public sector ventures designed to advance accessibility for people with disabilities.  The outstanding ventures may include:  the development of individual mainstream or assistive technologies introduced into the marketplace; the development of standards; and the implementation of best practices that foster accessibility.  Winners and honorable mentions will receive their awards from FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler in June 2014.

The A&I Initiative will accept nominations for the Chairman’s AAA from Monday, February 17, 2014 through Monday, March 31, 2014.  The nominated product, service, technology or practice must have been introduced to the public between August 1, 2012 and December 31, 2013.
