On November 4, 2019, the Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau of the FCC released a public notice seeking comment on a petition filed by Sorenson Communications, LLC requesting clarification or waiver of certain video relay service (VRS) and direct video calling (DVC) rules, including:

  • The removal of data from the Telecommunications Relay Service User Registration Database for any user who has neither placed nor received a VRS or point-to-point call in a one-year period;
  • Clarification of certain aspects of the per-call validation function of the TRS Numbering Directory; and
  • Guidance on DVC implementation.

Interested parties may file comments by accessing the Electronic Comment Filing System at https://www.fcc.gov/ecfs/filings.  All filings must reference CG Docket No. 03-123.  People with disabilities who need assistance to file comments online at https://www.fcc.gov/ecfs/filings may request assistance by email to FCC504@fcc.gov.
