Media Bureau – Policy
The Media Bureau develops, recommends and administers the policy and licensing programs relating to electronic media, including cable television, broadcast television, and radio in the United States and its territories. The Media Bureau also handles post-licensing matters regarding Direct Broadcast Satellite service.

Candidates should be law school students or undergraduate or graduate students with an engineering and/or economics background who have an interest in cable television, broadcast television, broadcast radio, and/or post-licensing satellite matters. Throughout the year. - General Duties
All interns in the Engineering Division of the Media Bureau will have the opportunity to gain valuable insight into the functioning of the FCC, and to work on a wide variety of telecommunications and related technology issues including:- Wireless and wired broadband technology;
- Broadcast and cable TV advancements v. federal regulations;
- Radio frequency spectrum allocation, innovation, management, and coordination (5G, ATSC 3.0, etc.);
- Next generation telecommunication forecast and research (smart cities);
- Database development and management.
- Selection Criteria
Candidates should be current undergraduate or graduate students, particularly in the fields of engineering or computer science, with strong academic credentials, good interpersonal skills, excellent research and writing abilities, and an interest in public service. - Send Application to
