On April 22, 2014, the FCC announced new electronic filing procedures for petitions for exemption from the FCC’s captioning rules for television programs.  As of April 30, 2014, all individual closed captioning exemption petitions, as well as comments, oppositions, and replies, must be filed electronically by e-mail to captioningexemption@fcc.gov.  The Public Notice contains further instructions for this mandatory electronic filing process.
