“This page is a digitally archived AccessInfo Announcement”

On May 15, 2012, the Commission released two public notices requesting comment on two petitions—one filed by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and one filed by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA). CEA and ESA request that the Commission waive its rules requiring advanced communications services (ACS) and equipment to be accessible by people with disabilities.

CEA requests a three-year waiver for two classes of equipment: (i) Internet protocol-enabled television sets (IP-TVs); and

(ii) Internet protocol-enabled digital video players (IP-DVPs).

ESA requests an eight-year waiver for three classes of equipment and services: (i) game consoles, both home and handheld, and their peripherals and integrated online networks; (ii) game distribution and online game play services; and (iii) game software.
