The Office of Engineering and Technology's (OET) mission is to manage the spectrum and provide leadership to create new opportunities for competitive technologies and services for the American public. DEDICATED SHORT RANGE COMMUNICATIONS

OET is performing a study on U-NII-4 prototype devices that have been submitted to demonstrate potential sharing solutions between the proposed U-NII devices and Dedicated Short Range Communications (DSRC) operations in the 5850-5925 MHz (U-NII-4) frequency band.  The OET Laboratory Division just concluded Phase One of the tests in a laboratory setting.  The test results provide a baseline data for performing analysis of additional operational scenarios and other “real-world” empirical tests as part of the future phases of the coexistence test effort

OET Guidance on Calculating Potential Television Interference From Positive Train Control Systems

OET offers applicants a set of best practices to consider when evaluating the potential of PTC systems to cause harmful interference to television receivers.  We emphasize that this is non-binding technical guidance and PTC applicants may submit any reasonable technical analysis to show how their PTC implementations mitigate potential interference to television reception. 

The FCC’s Technological Advisory Council, comprised of a diverse group of leading technology experts, provides technical expertise to the Commission to identify important areas of innovation and develop informed technology policies supporting the United States’ competitiveness in the global economy. The TAC is helping the Commission to continue the momentum spurred by the National Broadband Plan to maximize the use of broadband to advance national interests and create jobs.

The Measuring Broadband America (MBA) program is an ongoing nationwide performance study of broadband service in the United States that developed out of a recommendation by the National Broadband Plan to improve the availability of information for consumers about their broadband service.
